First woman president
of Helidon RSL
Mrs Maureen Wrigglesworth of Helidon is the first ever woman
president of the Helidon RSL Sub branch and will go down in
the Sub branch history as a tireless worker who never stops.
Maureen’s late husband Harold (better known as Snow) was a
Royal Marine in the British Navy.
Maureen joined
the RSL when the rules were changed to allow Ex-service
personnel.
Maureen at 81, has more energy than most people half her age
and is certainly an amazing woman who dedicates her time to
helping others. She is a life time resident of Helidon and
can be often seen lending a hand where ever needed.
While Maureen is
the President of the Helidon RSL, she is also President of
the RSL Womens Auxillary. These roles keep her quite busy,
but she also finds time to be an active member in the local
progress association.
Maureen has three children, eight grandchildren and five
great grandchildren and is certainly a lady who is easily
admired.

Its nesting season for the Plumed Whistling Duck.
This is the second pair of adult breeding birds this season that have had to be shown where the creek was!.
The first pair raised 8 ducklings. This family where found playing in the water overflow off Jenny's tank. With help from another neighbour, Bill, the family was herded across the road and into Drovers Crossing.
The adults and 10 ducklings have been spotted playing happily in the creek.

With all the lovely rain we have been having some of us have been very busy.
Mr Bill Hedges is often seen working his way around the neighbourhood
mowing lawns and keeping yards neat and tidy.
The CWA yard is always spotless, thanks to him.
The birds have had to share the sky this summer
with other winged creatures....Butterflies!
This is without a doubt the best display for a long time.
This female Orchard Butterfly alighted on my hand
the other day while I was weeding the garden. She was not at all
worried that I had interrupted her while she fed on nectar.
