To Celebrate the cooperation and effort that has been the hallmark of the ongoing effort to 'Green' our part of the Lockyer Creek over the past few years, The Helidon & District Progress Association Inc. in conjunction with Powerlink and Greening Australia, held a special Tree Planting and Afternoon Tea on Thursday 9th October 2008 at the CWA Hall, Railway Street, Helidon.

This Greening Lockyer Recognition Event is supported by Powerlink Queensland.

Greening Lockyer is an initiative of electricity transmission company, Powerlink, in partnership with the Lockyer Valley and Somerset Regional Councils and WESROC. The $1 million Community Partnership Program, which commenced in 2003, aimed at enhancing the Lockyer Valley's environment, minimising the impact of electricity infrastructure, and creating training and employment opportunities for local residents.

The Greening Lockyer Recognition Events program aims to encourage community and environmental groups to celebrate their past efforts, and join together to carry out site maintenance activities to enhance the great work already achieved at their Greening Lockyer project sites.
